Cherry trees are grown from seed. Most gardeners purchase young cherry trees from garden center, yet you can grow your own. The pit or the seed in the center of the cherry is capable of growing a tree. If you discard a few seeds into your flower garden you might find seedlings growing the following year.
Seedlings need to be transplanted in the spring or summer. Dig a hole three times bigger than the root ball and add good soil and compost.
