Can i sue an ex-employee and employer for false statements
I was terminated from my job after 9 months of employment.i was told that the company was making changes and i didnt fit in with those changes.it was fine with me.but when i talked to edd for my phone interview edd told me that was not what the employer wrote to them.edd said iwas let go because i could not do my job right,had conflict with other workers and i could not keep sobriety.all said was not true.and i can prove that because of a certain employee,i believe i was terminated.this certain emploee gets away with responsibility and she used a certain incident used against me to convince the owener that im this certain person.i worked in a place where there was no morale and everybody looked out for themselves making comments of other co-workers that would make them look good.a co-worker told me that to work here you have to learn how to tell on other co-workers the owners love that.it keeps us against eachother.this is all fine in an ordinary work place,but you see legalmatch,where i work is part of healthcare an out patient rehab.iam a counselor and registered with the state of california and ive also signed a code of ethics just like a lawyer and doctor.my school trained me well.iam at a different level then those counselors just for the fact iwent to school to be acounselor and many of them did not and so my counseling was up to date and because of that i feel it was aproblem especialy with a certain director.there so much more but i see im running out of character

It would be very hard for you to win. It sounds like a lot of he said she said caotic stuff that sometimes gets out of hand when a lot of people don't get along in the work place. I can only suggest for you to work on being always proffessional and just take care of your own responsibilities while being honest and friendly to all in your next endevier. Sorry I wouldn't try to sue this one.

I agree. You could talk with a lawyer and see what evidence you have against that person and try to sue for liable, but since it was all a he-said, she-said place I doubt anything would come of it. I'd say good riddance to that place. What an unhealthy working environment. I hope the managers have wised-up and realized that this kind of petty competition is counter productive. You can sue, but don't be surprised if you have a harder time finding a job. Unless you have concrete evidence that this is what they said to another source outside the company, and you have evidence that what they are saying is not true you probably do not have a good chance to win this case.
HOWEVER, it might be worth the $$$ to talk to an attorney and have him/her call the previous company to cease this type of communication. Without a lawsuit, sometimes this is the best defense.
