I am an analyst at a financial company and I believe there are several behaviours that are likely to get anyone promoted:

1- Stay focused and work hard
2- Be humble when complimented on a job well done
3- Leverage your strengths so that the company depends on your expertise
4- Ask questions, be attentive, and always ...do what you say you are going to do.
