How do you find your passion

What do you think is the best resource fot tapping into your passion ie: book, cd, website, tests career coach. councelor as the first step in looking for a job/ career that brings you joy. I am tired of taking jobs that I have to drag myself to work. I have even been put on anti depressents because of this(got off of them) I need the first step to move forward. I am having a total mental block on how to get started. I need to continue with the job I have now to bring in some income, but I don't want to wake up dreading each day. I know there is no quick fix. But if anyone out there has simple ideas to get me started on the quest for passion, I am listening....

Have you ever thought of going to a career counselor? They have their masters degree in counseling, but they also have training in career development and can help you find the kind of jobs that you want.

Here is a list of career counselors by state. If you click on their name you can email them. This sounds like a perfect fit for you!

Not all career coaches or life coaches are the same or have the same background. that person may not have been a good fit for you.

Like I said in the other question you asked, check out tony robbins books. Awaken the Giant should be a must read for everyone. He has some sections in there about clarity about what you want. His personal Power and get the edge audio series are great as well.

do you journal? if not, now would be a good time to start. start writing out all the things you have done that you enjoyed, and writing out whatever comes to mind.

and ask yourself this question all the time and expect an answer to come (eventually, maybe not the first time you ask it)

What is it I would love to do for a career?

I have a copy of Awaken the Giant. I got it years ago at a garage sale when I was stuck in a job I did not like. I just found it among all the stuff in the garage. Honestly I never read it. NOW is the time to start. I
If you read it, where should I start. It is a long book......

As you can tell by my profile, I had a hard time deciding exactly what I wanted to do in life as well, so I ended up spending a lot of years just fiddling around with this and that. It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I finally settled on what I truly enjoy most. I had help from a life counselor. Not everyone can afford that, but what you can do is make several lists, A) all the things you want to do B) the things you enjoy doing and are good at C) the things you would like to learn to do D) The things you have done and won't do again etc... and then find the common theme, for example... You enjoy art, have some skill with art, would like to take an art class, enjoy looking at and reading about art, enjoy painting or drawing, people say you would be a good teacher..... go for teaching art. Just an example

Awaken the Giant within is an AMAZING BOOK.

it is long because Tony Robbins told the publisher he refused to split the content into two separate books because the people needed that information he had. He wrote the book in like 2 months to meet a deadline. That is how strongly he felt about the material in it.

When I was going through a very rough part of life and dealing with things in 2002-2003, I think this book helped me out alot. I can't give it enough praise.

Start on the first page, and go from there. Do the exercises when he asks you too.

And you life will never be the same again.
