The biggest issue with someone not showing up to work anymore is that if they are the only one working, their business doesn't get customers. Thus, they don't make money.
If you are working with many people, not only do the rest have to pick up the slack from you, but they may need to unexpectedly find a person to replace you, and they may not get a completely qualified person as they are in a hurry to full your empty position.
