I live in Texas my employer has approximatly 21 employees per store and only has 2 stores he recently was debating being open for the 4th of July where in previous years he was closed. We were not informed that we would have to work until the Saturday before. So I was wondering if they needed to give you more of an advance notice

Texas labor law does not require any business owner to give advance notice of requiring employees to work any given day. Just because a day is considered a "federal holiday" means nothing to the Department of Labor, either the state or federal offices thereof.

In this economy, be glad you have a job.
