In the U.S. a babysitter is not required to have a license, but for your safety you can check your state.
www.childcare.net/licensing provides each states local offices.

you can get your certified babysitters training card at the red cross - it is a seven hour class though . Contact your local child care licensing office for all information you may need. The website: www.childcare.net/licensing provides each states local offices.

You must fill out an application.

You must describe objectives for the plans for the children.

You must have insurance coverage.

Get certified in CPR and First Aid. (Check local hospitals for classes)

Must have a floor plan of area used for daycare.

You will have to get your home (or place of daycare site) inspected by a fire marshal, and an escape route planned in case of a fire.

All state requirements are different, be sure to check with your local child care licensing office for all the facts.
