A trauma or emergency nurse is a nurse that frequently works in an emergency department. Here she will have to deal with a wide range of illnesses, and treat patients rapidly. A trauma nurse always has to expect the unexpected as she does not know who will come through the door next. One minute she could be dealing with a patient with broken leg, and the next with someone with a heart attack. For this reason a trauma nurse must be very adaptable. A trauma nurse can be a very stressful but rewarding job, and they are often one of the patients first contacts within the hospital.
