These are the MEDIAN (not average, but middle number) salaries of each team in the 2008-09 season from highest to lowest. Despite the trades made in the off-season it is safe to assume that these numbers barely change for this current season (2009-2010).

The average of all the medians comes out to $1,440,148/yr.

Edmonton Oilers $ 2,500,000
New Jersey Devils $ 2,500,000
Carolina Hurricanes $ 2,205,000
Minnesota Wild $ 1,950,000
New York Rangers $ 1,950,000
Philadelphia Flyers $ 1,950,000
Chicago Blackhawks $ 1,871,700
Detroit Red Wings $ 1,775,000
Florida Panthers $ 1,700,000
Montreal Canadiens $ 1,625,000
Vancouver Canucks $ 1,575,000
Calgary Flames $ 1,500,000
Colorado Avalanche $ 1,500,000
Toronto Maple Leafs $ 1,450,000
