Most hiring managers will tend to ask questions based on past experience. They would like to find out how you react under pressure, working cooperatively with others, and your adaptability to stressful situations. Whether you have experience in that field or have an education, though important, do not weigh as heavily as real life experience to situations. As far as where you live, they may ask that to find out if you can get to work on time. But i'm not 100% sure on that.

There are a few concerns shared by most hiring managers in the food-service business. Your best bet is to reassure the person you speak to that he/she will not have any problems with you in these areas:

1. Dependability/Consistency: Is this person going to share up on time and put in 100% during their shift? Do they have dependable transportation and a compatible school schedule? Are they going to quit in a few weeks?

2. People Skills: Are the customers going to like you? Will your moods and overall disposition be stable so that you are pleasant and professional, even with difficult customers?

3. Moral Integrity: Restaurants have their share of people with criminal records and substance abuse problems.
