After myself or my husband passes away, can the children request inheritance already?

We have 3 (maybe 4) children.
My husband has an alleged daughter in Germany (DNA test under way), we have one son together living with us in Canada and my two stepdaughters (from husbands first marrige) living in the US.

If one of us is still alive, do the children (in particular the alleged daughter in Germany, now 53yrs) have a right to request inheritance?

What state are you in?, I assume he did not leave a will.

We live in Ontario, Canada.
We do have a will, but it is over 25 years old and needs update.

I apologize, I am incompetent to respond to Candian law, it is best to speak to a solicitor about both your will and the rights of succession in Canada.
