Can an employer require an employee to have significant dental work completed in order to retain her position?

Employee has held position for many years and is the office manager. She is planning on having major dental work done, but can't afford it. However, her employer has threatened and put a deadline on retaining her job based on whether she gets the dental work done.

It is obviously an act of discrimination, but is there anything the employee can do to retain her position other than completing the dental work?

Also please report the employer to your state local board as well as the civil rights union. This is discrimination and is an infrigement upon the employees civil rights.
