Can I make a copy or copy my own copyrighted cd's to an MP3 player

If I have a number of cd's that are sold in our store, and we are legally able to sell them in our store, some are directly copyrighted by us, but regardless they are all copyrighted and since we have the rights to sell these cd's are we able to download those discs to a computer to put onto an MP3 player? The MP3 player would be used in place of a 5 disc cd changer. The cd's played in the 5 cd disc changer are what is sold in the store. They are played to promote the artist and cd. Is it illegal to take the same cd's and convert the songs/discs to digital media to be put on a MP3 player by way of PC that will play the same songs in the store to promote the cds and artists sold in the store. Would this still be considered copyright infringement?

I have little experince in copywrite laws; however if you own the copywrite and all of the copywrite ( you didn't just buy the CD rights) then (owning the entire copywrite of the material) then you can offer that material in any form you widh to sell.
For example: if you write a book, and you own the book ( the copywrite) you can sell it ( offer it) in paper, aduio tape, online; however you choose.
BUT if you bought the copywrite, you need to check your contract to see if you just bought a specific portion of the copywrite rights.
For instance: some older movies, the rights sell to one company for VHS tapes only ( really cheap) Tv broadcast to another company; Dscs to another, and theatre showings for festivals etc, to another company.

Re: the material you don't own; I would advise you NOT to reproduce that material in any form.
