Can I receive child support from a person who receive SSI benefits?

I've been a single mother for 6 years. My daughter's father has seven other children who have received child support from him, but have only gotten a very small amount because he receives social security and SSI benefits. I never tried to put him on child support, from fear of him being granted visitation rights. Is my daughter eligible to receive benefits from him, and if so, what is the maximum amout that she may be entitled to?

You should be allowed an equal portion from the funds the other seven receieve. I don't know if they all receieve equal amounts or if the seven existing checks being sent will be reduced to make an equal portion for your child. If you know his social security number, contact the social security office in your area and they will advise you on how to proceed. If you haven't seen him in 6 years, what makes you think he will express an interest in being a part of his daughter's life? Your child is certainly entitled to her portion.

Your child has a legal right to a portion of his social security. Exactly how much i dont know either but regardless if you go thru child support enforcement or a social security office they will tell you exactly what to do.
