What happens if you do not show for court? Do they put a warrent out for you?

They can. Depends on the charge. If you call them though and explain the circumstances, they are usually more than willing to work with you on setting a new date.

Whether or not you are given a continuance will be based on how soon you let the court know, why you can't be there and what your charge is. You should write a letter to the court clerk, include your phone number and address, your reason for needing a new date, and any verification ie.. doctors note, death certificate (if to attend a funeral) etc.. the court clerk will let you know, sometimes the court date will be held as is but the letter will be placed in the file, so when you don't show the judge will make a determination then as to issuing a warrent or setting a new court date. Some courts will allow you to apear by phone. Call the court clerk and ask if this is allowed.

Oh hell yes... They will do that! But when you do go to court, you better have a good reason as to why you didnt show. I only pray that the charge was very serious, if it is you could face jail time. FYI... Bring something or someone to help you prove to them ...Why?
