Does continuation school count as full time high school?

My husband's daughter is 18, she did not graduate last school year. She is currently enrolled in a continuation school, is this considered full time high school? She only goes for 4 hours a day? I am asking because his ex is asking for more child support. She won't get off of her behind and get a job. She just sits around the house drinking wine and smoking marijuana all day!

Well, you are not going to award me the answer.
Regardless of the mothers behavior, in fact because of it, the father needs to wncourage the mother to continue to provide shelter etc while this child finshes as best she can. People without a HS equivilentcy have almost zero chance of succeeding in todays society. That is why many non-profits bend over backwards to keep kids in school and help dropouts; help kids that belong to someone else.
Would you be writing the same thing if she wa in college?
Let me spin it this way, if she doesn't succeed your drop out maybe camping out at your house for an indeterminate amount of YEARS while she finds herself.
The best thing a step parent can do is encourage ANYTHING that will shove a child towards self suffciency.
re think your prespective, and buy some school supplies, and keep your fingers crossed you don't end up with her as a permanent house guest.
But legally, that counts as HS. until your state law cuts it off

so what state are you in? ( the least is 19) ( the most is 21)

We live in California. Believe me, my husband and I both encourage her to attend school every day, but she doesn't. As a matter of fact we are the only ones encouraging her to go to school. Her mother doesn't care what she does as long as she gets her support check.

That is so incredibly sad. As it is the truth that a bachelors degree is the new HS diploma. My checker at Wa Mart today was a young woman with a BA in business major ( truth!)
I idn't address the increase, and of course , CA law states that there has to be a significant chnage in circumstances to justify a modifcation. If teh mother is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed, then that would not justify a change.
Here is alink to the CA self help website, and this link discusses modifications
