Well I do not know how much money you are in debt for,but I do know that collection agencys are not nice people they call threaten and harass. If you are on disabitly they can't touch your check, but they can make your life a living nightmare. You can send them a certified letter telling them not to call you and if they do you have have them busted. You might want to get a block on your phone so they can't call in without you seeing who is calling. You can offer them a payment but how it usally works is one of three ways. Option one pay in full and they will not the interest off. Option two devide the amount in half and make two payments within 60 days and option three pay all of it with interest in three payments with 90 days. If you agree to any of those option have them send you out a letter with the option of your choice and tell them a payment will be enclosed with the signed letter . If they say know then that means their up to no good.

Filing chapter 13 allows you to force them to agree to small payments. I recommend filing chapter 7, though, because you don't own anything.
