Joint custody-father in US, Mother in Germany

My husband's ex-wife lives in germany with their 6 year old daughter. He was hurt very badly while in the Military and is now living in the Arizona. They have joint custody. He has been asking his ex to bring their daughter to visit, but she has has given excuse after excuse as to why she can't. Her answer is for him to visit Germany. Because of Medical reasons he could not handle the flight. Is there anything he can do legally to force her to bring his daughter to the states?

Actually nothing can be done legally but you can backdoor the system by writing to your congressman or a senator and ask them to intervene with the German consulate to get the girl on a plane. Your husband would have to foot the transportation bill and all other costs for the little girl but not for the ex should she decide to come along. I'd start with Senator Kyl or his Chief of Staff Tim Glazewski and possibly Congressman Jeff Flake who's on the House committee for Foreign Affairs. You'll probably need a VA doctor's letter explaining that the long flight would be detrimental to your husband's health but that shouldn't be hard to get. Leep us posted.
