Doctor bill question

My hubby and his first wife had two kids. They each had custody of one child, but my hubby had to pay child support because the ex was on states assisance. The ex recently got married and no longer has state assistance. The child she has custody of has gone to the doctor and my hubby is now getting the bills for the co-pay and anything the insurance that he carries on the child does not pay. The doctors office will not send the bill to her and we don't want to get sent to collections. Doesn't the ex have the responsibility for those bills? Is there anything we can do or are we at the mercy of the doctor's office?

If it is not stipilated in their divorce degree then he does not have to pay the bills and she should not be having the doctors send the bills to your husband. How is the doctors seeing the kids without the ex showing an insurance card. They don't usally see anyone with out proof of insurance. I would be calling the office where the bills are coming from and telling them to send them to the mother that your husband is now remarried and has not been ordered by the court to pay for any medical. if your husband chooses to put the kids on his insurance is can do so but it is of his chosing not his ex;s.

My husband has been ordered to pay for health insurance so she shows the card, which has his name on it. Nothing says he is paying for anything else...thank you for the answer. We are sending a copy of the support order to the doctor's office because they are intractable by phone.
