There are two aspects of this ever lasting debate and i think there is no end to it. But there are various positive points in favor of the weed such as:
- This will boost the agriculture of very diverse crop hemp which includes its development as a bio-fuel to reduce carbon emissions.

-The legalization may reduce the flow of money from American economy to international crime related mafias.

-Marijuana as various medical values and can be used as recreational drug with mild side effects. Marijuana provides relief from pain , nausea and other symptoms.

-If it is made legal that lots of tax can be imposed on this costly weed to support beneficial government programs.

-Marijuana overdose is impossible and it is less addictive than alcohol. It is also not very lethal and safer than alcohol.

This question will have to be added to Legislature before this can be legalized. My belief is drugs circulate a lot of money for the US as well as other countries. If they are legalized, then who's going to profit from it?

Here in California, we almost legalized it. Personally, I can't use it because I am addictive in that I can not do things moderately, but rather gravitate toward addiction in anything I do, good or bad. I really can't even drink coffee due to caffeine. But my opinion is in favor of legalization of marijuana because it seems that most people who use it do not do bad things while under the influence. It seems that beer and wine can be much stronger and result in drunken stupors. Some people I talked with say that marijuana just makes them a little sleepy with no strong effect. Therefore, put the criminals out of business, who profit from the illegal trade in that controlled substance, and put money into the hands of the government the way liquor licenses, and alcoholic beverage taxes do already.

Of course....it's NOT a drug...it is an herb like any other herb. It is helpful for cancer, glaucoma and people who are in a lot of pain. It stimulates your appetite when you have no appetite. If it is considered bad, then there are many other things that should be too....alcohol, medications, coffee, fatty foods, greasy foods, etc. Like I said, it's just an herb....how can you outlaw an herb?!

Yes, for all the reasons stated above and many more. However, I'm not hopeful it will happen - maybe, even in my lifetime, but I can dream.

I think it should be legalized for many reasons. The most important reason being that if it was sold legally we could regulate what was in it. You wouldn't have to worry about your child or your cousin or whatever buying pot that was laced with something else on the street. Put it on a shelf, tax the heck out of it like they do cigarettes, and make some money. I think that it would take some of the fun out of it for the kids. Half of them get started with drugs this way and they do it because of the cool factor. It's illegal, my parents would flip, yeah let's do it. People who require it medically wouldn't have to feel so ashamed. I think there are lots of good reasons to do it. And this is coming from someone who doesn't do drugs of any kind.

That's a tricky question. While I don't think it's much different from alcohol, and certainly does not seem to fit the criteria of hard drugs like cocaine and heroin, it still does alter your judgment, much like alcohol. I guess with all the benefits it offers, medically speaking, it should probably be legalized, unless they want to take alcohol off the market too and go into prohibition.

I dunno. I don't think it's exactly like alcohol in that I don't think there's a marijuana equivalent of one beer. And I speak from experience.

But I think it definitely should be available medically, and probably should be decriminalized.

No, marijuana should not become legalized. Marijuana belongs to a group of addicting, narcotic drugs. Modern research indicates that persons with psychological disorders who frequently smoke marijuana are much more likely to develop intensified symptoms of the disorder, including severe hallucinations and possible violence. Due to the influence of political activists who have made the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana their agenda, many people now believe that marijuana is a harmless drug, but this has never been the case, and is still not the case today.

Research indicates that people who smoke marijuana on a regular basis do not think as clearly, are less productive, and are generally "spaced out." Plus, the use of marijuana prompts people to explore and experiment with other illegal drugs that are even more dangerous drugs, such as heroin, a drug that is also gaining popularity, even though it is an extremely harmful drug that literally destroys lives.

The people of the state of California voted against the legalization of marijuana in 2010. California is not by any means recognized by politicians as being a conservative state, yet the people in California do not want the legalization of marijuana. I happen to live in California. I also happen to be a conservative, and I am proud to say that I voted against the legalization of marijuana in 2010.

Alcohol, is way more dangerous, and addictive, but yet, thousands of people die from alcohol, and it is still legal!
There is no reason this should be illegal! I can go on all day why it should be legal!
And I have no answer why it is illegal!
