Ex-husband died owing child support

Ex-husband died owing $44,500 in child support - can I write this off as a lost debt or bad debt on my taxes

I'm curious too. If anything, you might be able to try and get that $44,500 out of his assets before they get divvied up with his Will. But that would be a good question for a lawyer.
