Fraudulent marriage

In 2001 I met and married a woman, one year later she left me and started living with another man. It was then that I found out she was an illegal immigrant from mexico. She filed a do it yourself divorce.
Five months ago I remarried a woman from philippines and want to bring her to the states with me. However when I asked for a copy of my divorce from the state they cant find it. Now I am worried that I am married to two women and I am sick about it. What can I do, please help.
I have no idea as to the location of the first woman, I came back to the states to start the process for immigration for my new wife. Now I dont know what I can do.

So there is no record of her filing for the divorce? did you sign anything to end the marriage?

There has got to be some way to find out, if you are actually still married, and there has to be a process to file for divorce without her being present to end the marriage if you are still legally married the Mexican woman.

If you think about it. People could just pick up and leave a marriage at any time. there has to be a way for the one that was left to end the marriage on his own.

Hope that helps. Good luck with it it and congrats on the new wife.

She could have filed a divorce where u didn't have to sign anything, but if there is no evidence of your divorce then yes u are married to two women at once. u can hire a private investigator to find her, but u need to take care of this a.s.a.p. frankly...u should have made sure before u remarried, it would have made things easier. i doubt that ur "ex" filed for divorce because thats what made her a citizen. w/divorce, unless u were married for quite some time she would have lost her citizenship as well. if in fact she did divorce u, she may have gotten deported, but the thing u have to realize is that people who immigrate to the u.s usually get fake s.s #, ids the works, so u may not have married the woman u thougt. her identity may have been one from a deceased person. u might want to look up her name and birthdate in death records all over the u.s
