How does noncustodial parent file for custody

I live in los angeles county and my case is out of san bernardino county. for the last 3yrs i have had visitation rights,every other wkend,rotating holidays,and six weeks in the summer, i am currently paying child support and am all caught up on my rears . since november of 08 my son has been living with me. his grandma called me and said she has been taking care of him because her daughter is back on drugs so for the last 3 months i have been paying child support and daycare i want to file for custody but don't know the proper procedure.

You need to file a motion to modify custody with the court that orginally made the custody determination. When you go to court - have all you evidence (not he said she said) but solid evidence with witnesses.....

I have temporary custody of my granddaughter. I need to know how to obtain the paperwork to file for full custody of her. I live in San bernardino county.
