I just heard that Michael Vick got 23 months in Federal Prison. Fair?

Do you think this is fair? Should he get more/less time?

I think it's fair. After all, by the time he gets out of prison his NFL career will be over (for the most part), which is a big price to pay.

I think it's fair. However, I wonder what the sentence would have been if someone like Paris Hilton would have done the same thing. We all saw how that went with her DUI stuff.

It is fair. He colleagues in this got up to 18 months, but since Vick lied, he got more.

And to disagree with primtime, his career is not over yet. yes, he lost this season, and will lose at least 2 more. But if he takes care of himself, works out, comes out as strong or stronger he will have a shot to play in the NFL again.

Granted a team would have to take a shot on him and the bad publicity that comes with it. But I think a team may be willing to pick him up for cheap if he really does want to play again.

I wonder if he was not a celebrity if he would have gotten less time - sorry always the skeptic.

He'll be about 30 when he gets out, and there's a chance he could play in the 2010 season. He is a gifted athlete, but the quarterback position is the most difficult position to play in all of sports. He won't be able to keep up his NFL conditioning in prison, which will set him back. Mentally, he isn't as talented as he is physically. Just don't see it. He might come back and play yes, but he won't ever fulfill his potential. Much like Darrell Strawberry, he's going to go down in history as wasted talent.

That's a good question Jodi. I heard the judge really wanted to make it clear that this is not acceptable in today's society so maybe he did throw the book at hime to make an example out of him.

As a vet, I think he should have got more frankly, and I think celebrity or not what he did was reprehensible (sp?) But this sort of thing happens all the time, and you don't see it in the media because they aren't celebrities, and so maybe jodi's right, perhaps he got harsher punishment because of the media coverage and general national outrage involving it. I am frankly sick and tired of people who abuse animals getting slapped on the wrist.
