If a branch from a tree on my property that borders a neighbors property, falls on and damages a car, am I liable?

My neighbor, who parks one of their cars under an overhanging tree that is on my property, said that a branch from my tree broke off and damaged the roof of their car. I did not plant the tree, it was probably there since at least 1970. Am I liable for the damage, or should they have known that something like this could happen?
