There is a program that some people are calling a scam. They say that it is illegal to send out letters to have people to send seven people a $1.00 to add their name to a mailing list. If I take a chance and participate in this because the letter clearly states that this is legal because I am actually providing a service by adding the persons name on a mailing list, What type of charges am I facing is I later find out that this is illegal? I was told by a few people that participated that it is legal.

The US Postal service has outlawed through US statute using the mail for chain letter pyramid schemes. You can be fined, or in some more involved lucarative schemes imprisoned.
