Internet hacking

My daughter is having problems with an ex boyfriend. He has hacked into her e-mails, facebook, etc and changed her passwords several times. He erased pictures that were on her facebook. He has some compromising pictures of her that he keeps threatening that he is going to post them on the internet. Is there any law against what he is doing and what is her recourse?
She broke up with him about a year ago and she ended up getting a restraining order against him because he would not leave her alone. However, he contacted her several times after the restraining order and she reported him to the police and they did nothing.
unfortunately, they got back together and now he is doing the same thing along with the internet hacking. She is hesitant to get a restraining order again because the police did nothing when he broke it and she is afraid that he will actually post the pictures if she gets one

I'm sorry to hear that you have to go though something like that. It is a parents' nightmare.
You may need to get a lawyer so that you can sue him for extorion/ blackmailing. You could try to go to police about extorion/ blackmail, but they tend not to listen to you (from my own experience) unless you are already represented by an attorney.
