Is father able to file for child support with shared custody?

If my childrens father files for child support knowing I make $10 an hour part time and I am going to school and going through an court order to get my children back. We have shared custody right now but he has primary. He is married and his wife is getting a settlement money from her late husbands death from two years ago and she also works a full time job. He did not state that he was getting any settlement nor state he was married. Would they have to go by both income since they are married? I am single and I have another child to someone else who is in my care. So I am also taking care of her expences and I have my own expences that I pay here for the children when they are here.

What state are you in? He asking for child support? How much time do you have with the child ( that makes a difference in most states)
