Is marriage legal

My husband and i got married while his divorce to his previous wife was still pending. It was filed before we got married and granted after we got married. We got married by a Christian Pastor, and my question is, even though he wasn't divorced until after we got married, are we considered married in God's eyes? We believe that since he didn't know where his ex-wife was, and didn't know how to get in touch with her for many years(over ten) that he was already considered divorced, we just wanted to make it final. If you know the answer. My husband and I love each very much, and it would be heart breaking if we found out we weren't married. Thank you

During the subsistence of a marriage second marriage is prohibited under the law and such kind of marriage is considered as void marriage. But if after the marriage a person get divorce from his previous spouse, as in your case, the second marriage become valid. You and your husband are now legally wedded husband and wife and you need not to worry.
