North Carolina is a right to work state so unfortunately your employer can reduce your work hours. However, if you are in a union a collective barganing agreement would have to be consulted before any reduction in work hours is done. It is also unlawful for an employer to reduce your hours for any discriminatory reason. However, absent the above mentioned circumstances it is at the employers' discretion to set a work schedule and the law does not differentiate between part time and full time status.
