NC rental property lease - sec dep return ?

Daughter and 2 other individuals are on a NC rental property lease. Lease expires in April. Daughter has moved out. We paid the security deposit w/personal check directly to landlord. Landlord stated that annual w/go to month to month after annual expires. Because the originating annual lease will change with the removal of my daughters name from the lease, will we be able to retrieve our deposit money now? Or have to wait until the other 2 depart the property? My thought is because her name is being removed, it changes the original lease terms, giving the landlord the ability to change or renew the lease w/the 2 other individuals and then collect a new deposit. Can we get the original deposit back now?
