QUESTION ON INHERITED PROPERTY

I PRESENTLY LIVE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, SEVERAL YEARS AGO MY OLDER BROTHER AND I INHERITED SOME PROPERTY THAT CONSIST OF A HOUSE AND 60 ACRES OF LAND. MY BROTHER HAS LIVED IN THE HOUSE SINCE 1997 AND HAS NOT PAYED ANY TAXES ON THIS PROPERTY. CAN I HAVE THIS PROPERTY PUT IN MY NAME SINCE HE DOESN'T PAY TAXES,OR CAN ANY THING BE DONE TO REMOVE HIM OFF THE PROPERTY. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT I SHOULD DO.

If I were you, I'd sell my share and let the new guy deal with your brother! Of course, I'm sure that you will need to give your brother the opportunity to purchase your share from you first. Be sure to document everything! All in writing with postal reciepts, etc.

That would be a legal battle to get him off of it, since he does legally own it too. but if you have been paying all the taxes on it, then there is a chance you could win, but you would need to talk to a lawyer about it.
