Should an employer or manager at a fast food restraunt fire an employee when a customer verbally and phyically abuses a server?

The server/cashier was accused of giving the wrong change. Customer claimed she handed the cashier a $20. but after a big scene and stricking the cashier she found her $20. The manager did nothing to help but fired the employee because she "talked back".

No, a good manager would not have let that happened. Unfortunately, not everyone is a good manager. If the person was hit, then that is assault. She could file a suit against the manager and store for endangerment and also against the patron, but it won't be easy. She should file against the resturant though.

Thank You for your response. Yours in-fact was the only response but I believe your opinion to be sound.
The employee I referr to is actually my grand daughter. She felt like there was anything she could do except try to find another job. We are not a "sue happy" family but it doesn't sit well with me to see her or other employees experience abuse without any help from the employer.
My grand daughter has decided to get her college classes started in January. I don't know if she will sue Hardy's Restraunt but knowing she could might keep her from feeling resourceless.
I appreciate your time and thought. Tyche522
