Should my spouse wages still be getting garnished due to medcaid?
I had informed the mother of my step children 3 months prior to joining the militery of my intensions to do so. The children would dental insurance and health insurance benefits after I joined. She was on food stamps at that time. She also had it set so that my spouse paid medical support on behalf of his 2 kids. She never initiated the paper work to cancel the stamps or medicaid. They are still garnishing my spouses checks and a year has passed. Is there anything that I may do to alleviate this situation? It is causing a financial hardship. Is someone in this situation defrauding the government?
