1099 social security form question?

If the social security sends out the "last" 1099 form on a person & that person dies 5 months after they sent it , wouldn't another 1099 form of been sent out after his death?

I'm not sure I've ever seen a 1099-SSA marked as "final" or "last". If the Social Security Administration made payments, they would issue the annual 1099-SSA to the recipient.

If the person was under retirement age, it is possible that they were switched to SSI, which is not reportable and would not get a 1099-SSA.

They would have sent a statement out in Jan 2002 showing the amount of SS he received prior to his 2001 death. The SSA doesn't usually issue 1099-SSA's in June, so I have no idea what they were talking about.
