I know there is a period in which your former employer has to contest you getting unemployment benefits. After that time, they are unable to do anything about it. I also live in Colorado, so I don't know what applies to where you live.

Did you receive a letter from the Unemployment department that your former employer was contesting it?

There was never any mail stating that the former employer was contesting; Benefits did their
investigating and approval was made; I received the full 6 months of benefits that is allowed by
the state of Ill.

Then no, you don't have to repay any unemployment benefits.

But... You do have to pay taxes on these like they were normal income. Just keep that in mind come tax time.
