If u owed 9000 on car, & they only got 6000 out of car, then yes, you still owe 3000 on the loan.

Valid claim to collect on a reposession.
I went through a bout of bad debt which resulted in a vehicle reposession about 5 yrs ago. My credit has improved and recently started obtaining new credit. The vehicle finnance company sold the account to a collection company who is trying to collect from me. Do I have to pay for a vehicle they took back?
