Violation of Illinois Labor Law

I have been working for a company for about 4 months. My employer will not allow me to leave at my scheduled time because the store is not fully recovered and sometimes I have been forced to work 1-2 hours longer than my scheduled shift and did not receive the proper breaks according to the Illinois labor laws. Do I have a legal case against my employer?

I would talk with the labor employment people in your state/city first and see what they have to say. you may be eligible for some OT pay if you have to stay that long.

The state of Illinois has a great website http://www.illinois.gov/working/ . From that site you can find a good contact that will tell you if you really have a case and possible get the legal help you need. If you don't have a case that will get you compensation, you can still file a complaint against the company for breaking labor laws.
