Can i get kicked ot of the navy DEP if i get sued and file for bankruptcy

I recently enrolled in DEP for the Navy my deployment date is June 26th a creditor called me and said I owed them $9000 and change from where I don’t know I asked the creditor for validation or to have it in writing he refused and stated that they already sent one of which I have never received. The collector said that he's putting refused to pay and escalating the process. I am worried that if they try to sue me it wills DQ me from the program. I sent a letter to dispute the debt the next day, and am considering bankruptcy chapter 7. will I be DQ.

I would go to the JAGs office now or talk to your MCPO and tell them what happened and ask for help. It could have been a crank call or you could be a matter of idenity theft. But get help NOW

Relax, mop jockey, DEP or Delayed Entry Program gives you a report date to active duty not a deployment date which is where you ship out for a set period of time on a ship or to a foreign duty station. You have between now and your repprting date to handle this problem. First off you have to ask these questions of yourself, since you say you have no idea of what the creditor is saying. Did you co-sign a loan for anyone? Are you listed until joint liability for any financing of a car or home? Did you ask the creditor to verify the last four numbers of the social security number he has on file and is it yours? The creditor must tell you who the debt is to and for what. He also must verify that he has the right person by using a date of birth and the last four of the SSN. Declaring bankruptcy will not help if the debt's not your obligation. Bankruptcy however may cause you to change your rate if a security clearance is required so as Cyrpto, Master at Arms, Radio and all nuclear ratings. First find out if the crediotr has the right guy, find out what it's for, then go talk to your recruiter to get his opinion and what a bk could do to your career and rate, then see if he can get you an appointment with a JAG rep. If not go see an attorney but by all means try and get this handled by March 26th which is ninety days before you report date to boot camp. Fair winds and following seas.
