Amending meeting minutes

When at a meeting where changes are being made to the minutes from a previous meeting, how are the amendments to the minutes physically recorded? Does the secretary:
1) Rewrite the the minutes to the previous meeting to incorporate the changes, or
2) Note the wording of the amendment for the previous meeting minutes in the minutes of the current meeting then state, "approved as amended" and leave the minutes of the previous meeting unchanged?
Can you please answer this for me, if my question is clear enough to answer? Thank you.
