USAFRET91:

Where did this info come from? I'm just curious because there are 44.2 gals. listed here and there is only 42 gals. to the barrel?

Figures are based on 1995 average yields for U.S. refineries. One barrel contains 42 gallons of crude oil. The total volume of products made is 2.2 gallons greater than the original 42 gallons of crude oil. This represents "processing gain."

I thought I gave him a right cross when I asked him to explain how he come up with more than 42 gals. in the barrel, instead he clobbered me with a left hook!
