Bed Bugs

I had bed bugs in my bed and was forced to move because my apartment was infested with them. I have three children and could not live in that kind of environment. So I moved and now my landlord is suing me for back rent. One month in which I paid is now being traced through USPS because I did pay it with a money order. I was forced to get a new bed in which it did no good because I still have them. I had to buy mattress covers to keep them from spreading. I found some in my kids mattress. Now that I moved can I still sue them since they are suing me?

Bed bugs are nasty bugs that is for sure.

Did you have your apartment sprayed to kill them all?

It sounds like you broke your lease to move? I don't know if he can sue you for rent, unless that is part of the clause of the rent agreement you signed.

I had an old girlfriend that had bed bugs. She has no idea how they got into her apartment, but I read that they are getting more common in apartment complexes and what not. but she had to toss out her mattress since it was infested, and gobs of clothes and other things. She got rid of them. But it took while and she still has a paronia about them.

Good luck with it.

If you made an effort to let the landlord know about the problem then I would counter sue him for damages and the stress associated with the having to move and buy new matresses.
