Bottle of wine for presents?

I want to buy a couple of bottles of wine for friends for about $30 or less a bottle. They both like red wines (especially merlots). Any ideas for good bottles of wine?

You can find a lot of really good wines these days for under $20.
Some of my favorites:
Toasted Head
Ravenswood
Chateau Ste Michelle

Try Sequoia Grove out of California. Really nice cabernet. New Zealand wines are gaining in popularity so check some of them out. They can be very good and it makes a unique gift.

Also, if you are looking for some unique wines, try some of the Ice Wines out of Canada. Ice Wines are a dessert wine and are something you don't see every day.
