Closing bank account for deceased person

I was told I need legal advice to close out my fathers accounts, because my name wasn't on the account. One account is a trust account, I'm sorry I forgot to mention that in the original question.

If you have the death certificate, then you can close the account. Is there another executor of a will or power of attorney? If not and you are taking on the responsibility, then you should be able to do it. If your states law requires a court order, you'll have to call the probate court in your county for that.

Yup, you would need the help of a lawyer to close it because your name isn't on the account.

If you are not the executor you cant do anything and if there is no will the court would have to appoint an executor
