Coin value

My mother has a coin that has "FERDND.VI.D.G.HISPAN.ETIND.REX.1747" with a picture of, I assume Ferdinand. On the other side it says Spanish Gold Doubloon. Is this a real coin or a fake souvenir? She is afraid to throw it out.
