Does anyone know what a stamped "A" on the bottom of an old vase may be?

I have what appears to be an old vase with blue flowers on the bottom half, the vase is narrow and has small handles on the the bottom of the vase there is a stamped "A". Does anyone know what "A" might stand for?

Hoping to find out who made the vase and how old the vase may be.

The die-stamped legend on the bottom of your vases, PAT.AUG.27.12, does NOT refer to a date of manufacture. It is the date of issuance of the patent for the application of sterling silver overlays to bronze without the use of solder. Your vases were presumably manufactured after that date and before Heintz closed its doors in February, 1930.
