Check the antiques road show and see if has been on the show before. they do apraisals.
if they are in your area they may want to look at it.

If you have any antique dealers in your area you can take the chair there to get it appraised. Also there are some very knowledgable clerks at small antique shops maybe you could visit a few and ask them if they have ever heard of J. Walder and Sons.
