I would think it is just like a carpet layer, they normally charge by the square foot. But when providing a quote dont forget to add in costs of materials, nails, tape, plaster, etc. and labor is extra,( a per hour charge). And provide a finish time when the job will be done =/- a day or so.

Can I get a 1 hr. rating with 2 layers of 5/8 drywall on one side?

There is no way to get drywall on the backside of the wall and it calls for a 1 hr rating. I was thinking 1" shaft liner is 1 hr. so why wouldn't 2 layers of 5/8 be? thanks
