OK, Norton must be removed properly to get rid of it.

You will need to look through the Add/Remove programs list to select and remove them in the proper order.

Worse come to worse, and advanced user can get rid of it manually by editing the registry, and deleting the program files.

My advice is to contact Norton directly, and they can advise you better.

If you are interested in freeware to replace it, I usually recommend the "triple antibiotic"

1. AVG anti-virus free edition

2. Spybot S & D

3. MalwareBytes free scanner

All are available at cnet.com.
