How do most illegal drugs enter the United States?

How do most illegal drugs enter the United States?

I recently read about a Gulfstream plane that just crashed in Mexico in rout to Fl. Lauderdale with 4.4 tons of cocaine . . . and apparently the CIA has chartered this plane in the past.

kind of a weird story and not sure if to believe, but that brings up my question. how does most of the illegal drugs get across the borders? Land, Sea or Air?

I know for pot, bad weed comes by land from Mexico and kind bud comes from Canada (British Columbia). What's funny about that is that the US dollar is so weak now, that it's not worth smuggling it in anymore. Our horrible economy has slowed to international pot trade.

Call it Marijuanomics.

LOL @ DatsCool

I'm not sure if the Government really knows how it all gets into the country, otherwise they would have stopped it.

between flying it in on private planes, bringing it in on boats, or driving it over the boarder, there are so many ways it could get in.

How drugs enter the US depend on the drug. The DEA estimates that 90% of Marijuana comes in from Mexico, while Cuba is the big importer of Cocaine, and Chinese mafia accounts for most drugs such a GHB.

Here is the DEA's reports on smuggling (and people do find new and interesting ways everyday)

The idea of eating balloons filled with drugs, to get it across the boarder just doesn't sound fun at all.

And why stop drugs from coming in, the drug trade is huge revenue for our goverment, both local and federal. If you are busted with drugs you have to pay taxes on the street value amoung other things. and don't even get me started on the Marijuana user, most countrys now consider Marijuana a "soft" drug and place little priority on it. Contrary to popular belief it is not completly legal in Amsterdam, it is just considered a soft drug and takes the lowest priority. The illegalization of Marijuana was caused by paranoia plane and simple... And I could go on for days why it should be legal!!

I totally agree Ruchele. Monitor it, tax it and use the tax money to create programs to stop real drugs. It's amazing how many more deaths are caused by alcohol than marijuana. They aren't even on the same level.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not about to suggest outlawing martinis :)
